Cinna Movie Plot Summary

A group of archeologists are exploring a deep mysterious jungle, having made this jungle their home for the last few months. The head archeologist, a man named, Sinclair Bartholmew, finds what seems to be an ancient jungle temple, mostly in ruins. When he and a small team enter along the walls they find strange etchings to some sort of God-like being that a seemingly ancient race once worshiped. As the team travels deeper, avoiding traps and the dangers of the jungle they reach a large mostly empty room. On the far wall is carved a giant dragon-like creature with a bunch of smaller animal looking creatures on the ground. As Sinclair walks up and puts a hand to wipe some dust off of this carved mural he and his team are transported into another world. One much like our own but strangely sweeter. The team have turned into strange dog-bear creatures that are oddly sweet. After the initial panic they set out to find a way back home, they find themselves in a small village of the same creatures they have been turned into! They met a kindly creature named Hunbun who informs them of where they are and that they are “Cinnadogs” though “Cinnacats” as well as some less friendly creatures exist. Sinclair, who Hunbun has affectionately nicknamed “Cinbun”, takes it as his duty to get his team back home. With the help of Hunbun, Cinbun and his team make their way to the Sour Jungle, a dangerous place where few Cinnas seem to go. Cinbun using his skills, Hunbun knowledge of the land and the rest of the team's skills make their way through the jungle all the while learning about Cinna lore. 

They fight monsters and strange creatures in the jungle like Chaosma who protects the temple from intruders. All of the jungle is made up of food, the trees made out of licorice and the leaves gummy spear mints, some of the creatures we see are mash-ups of real life creatures and food, like a snake made from marshmallows or an alligator that’s a kabob. 

During the first night in the jungle Cinbun and Hunbun have a heart to heart and over the course of the movie fall in love while helping each other. As the team finally gets to the temple, almost the exact same one as on the human side Sinclair decides to stay here in the world of Cinnas with Hunbun, deciding he wants to learn more about this fantastical place and also doesn’t want to leave Hunbun to defend for themself. As Sinclair’s team leaves him and Hunbun share a kiss as the camera fades to black.

An end credit scene shows deep under the temple, going deeper and deeper below the surface before slowly zooming in on a large sleeping figure, going closer to its eye before the eye snaps open and the pupil shrinks into a slit.

The movie would focus more on the adventure than the action but some interesting scenes where the team battles Chaosma and has to use their smarts to out-wit the creature would be fun. Think more like “Jungle Cruise” and not so much “Mission Impossible”, more fun adventure than action shlock.
