Today was the day. Today was the farewell party for the beloved Vanta. Chips never spoke directly to Vanta, never needing a reasonf for it. Breathing in deeply, Chips did his best to be supportive of his beloved wife. Chips breaking the news to Holli that Vanta was leaving had hurt him, as well as her. Having spoken to Vanta once before at a small gathering, they had given Holli comfort in when a Cinna's flavor would become "void". She feared losing her flavor for a long time, but Vanta had brought her comfort. Seeing how far she went to create cookies for them to take, a small goodie bag for them with a note from Holli on how much she apperciated his help.
The party went well! Everyone said their final words to Vanta. Some thanking them for what he's done well others thanked him in replace for their loved ones. It was a wholesome party, everyone sad seeing one of their own leave. Was it for good? Chips was unsure. He didn't have the heart to ask Holli or anyone else about what they thought. Holli was already upset - very obvious at that - and he didn't want to upset her more.
Holli placed a bowl of cookies down alongside the rest of the deserts, organizing the table to distract herself. Chips deep voice rumbled behind her, him trying to whisper.
"You... okay?" he took his time speaking, trying his best to not stutter. Holli never mind it and always waited for him to finish speaking. She was so gently to him.
"Yea! Of course I am. I mean obviously, it's a sad day but it's also it's a farewell party. We don't want to make it sadder for Vanta, you know?" Holli said, turning towards him. Chips nodded leaning down giving her a small kiss. Holli smiled up towards him, her smile never leaving her face. She was trying to seem unbothered though Chips could still see right through it all.
"Vanta over... there," Chips pointed with his claw towards Vanta, as they made their way around talking to others. Feeling Holli push past him to hide, he let out a small sigh before looking over at her. She hide against his side, still organizing the table of food. She kept repeating her movements over again, trying her best to distract herself from it all. Chips held onto her shoulder as he watched her, keeping an eye for Vanta if they decided to make their way over. From the looks of it, Vanta was busy with others.

As the party began to wind down, Vanta's send off was coming quickly. The realization of them actually leaving hit everyone slowly through out the party, some leaving before Vanta actually left. Chips offered Holli to leave but she kept dening, saying it was disrespectful for everyone to not be supportive of Vanta. Holli had a heart of gold and right now, it was weighing heavily in her. Chips did his best to give her space but she kept hiding behind him, occosenily sitting on his shoulder. She was like a bird scared of flying too far away from home.
It was time for Vanta to make his way to them, Holli holding Chips hand as tight as she could. She was afraid, scared to never see her friend Vanta again. Vanta waited paitenly for Holli to climb down, still holding onto Chips hand. Chips watched closely as the two spook gently back and forth, Holli twisting and flicking the ends of her tails. She was trying her best to keep eye contact with Vanta, failing at some parts when she felt the lump forming in her throat.
"I'm happy you were both able to make it," Vanta spoke softly, looking between the two couple.
Holli smiled wide, pulling Chips arms close to her body. "Of course! We're your friends Vanta. We have to give you a good farewell!" Holli said in excitment, holding Chips arm. Chips nodded in agreement.
"We are friends. You are wonderful Vanta," Chips mumbled. Turning around gripping a hold of the goodie bag, Chips lifted it slowly to Vanta, showing the small decorations that resembled them. "Gift. Snacks. Notes from us," Chips added on, dropping the small bag in Vanta's hands. Vanta opened their hands, looking at the bag examining it. A small smile on his face once more Vanta looked between the married couple. Happiness redated from them - peaceful and bliss. Both of them contributed to this gift, Vanta being able to see the notes inside. One had pink pen ink and another had black but much more harder to read.
Letting out a small sigh, Vanta held the bag close. "Thank you, to the both of you for this. You both have a wonderful heart. Pure hearts," Vanta said. Holli smiled before nuzzling into Chips arm.
Vanta looked towards the sky, seeing the soft fade from orange to the deep blue. The stars began to hang above everyone, the cold chill of the night finally coming out to say hello. It was time. Vanta knew now was the time.
Today was a celerbration of life. Vanta helped so many cinnas, as well as welcomed many. Seeing so many cinnas here now gathered to bid him farewell warmed their heart. Many celerbrated what Vanta brought to the Cinnverse, well others celerbrated their friendship they had with Vanta. Vanta knew they touched so many cinnas helps, but seeing it here now really put into prespective how much they truly did.
Chips stood alongside Holli as everyone waved farewell to Vanta. Resting his hands on her shoulder, they watched as Vanta strayed towards the exit that lead to the Voidal. Small sniffles came from the small cinnacat, holding onto Chips hand tightly. She was trying her best to stay strong but now came the time, she was slowly letting her guard down. "You'll be missed Vanta!" Holli called, holding her tears back. She was trying hard to remain strong, though Chips knew the truth. Someone leaving forever bothered Holli. Losing her mom young, she always took any sort of leaving or loss hard.
Giving her a small smile, Vanta lingered for a moment. Looking over the faces of all the cinnas gathered here now, the image would last forever in Vanta's memories. They turned their back away from everyone, breathing in deeply. Staring into the void before them, the soft goodbyes from everyone behind them echoed through around. Deep breath in, deep breath out. Vanta took one step forward into the Voidal. The fog wall engolfed them, disappearing beyond the veil that stopped everyone at the party from seeing them anymore. Silence fell upon the group gathered near the Voidal Exit, everyone grieving the farewell of Vanta. For as long as they have been here, they have helped guide many to find their flavor, as well as those who have lost theirs to rest peacefully till they could find it again. Vanta helped so many cinnas - even among those currently here.
Seeing them disappear through the black veil was heart breaking, but this was Vanta's choice. In the end, Holli could only hope that Vanta found the peace that he had brought so many here. Slowly cinnas began to step away, returning to their everyday activity. Holli remained still, her shoulders slowly sinking as the realization that Vanta was gone.
Chips whispered to her gentle, she following him as he guided her away. She kept looking back at the wall, some small part of her hoping that Vanta would walk back through and join everyone again. But sadly, she knew that wasn't going to happen. Vanta was happy with their choice. Holli accepted it but it still saddened her. Not seeing Vanta at the park gatherings waiting for cookies was going to hurt. But they were happy with their choice. Right?
Holli shuffled to follow Chips, looking back sometimes towards the shadow veil of void. It was no longer there. Gone so no one could accidently fall through it. Vanta was gone. The memories of them chatting in the park came to mind. How comfortbale and peaceful it was to sit alongside Vanta, discussing life and the void. Talking a bit on each others and getting to know each other. Vanta knew of both of them, but Holli didn't know more than the rumors she heard. And now they were gone.
Memories are a great way to remember those who step into the Voidal. She's had friends who have stepped through, coming back out after they refound themsleves. Some haven't stepped back out yet, still resting. Everyone deserved a break, and Holli hoped Vanta would enjoy her. Rather it was permentant or tempoerialy.
Turning her head up towards the sky, Holli cleaned her eyes of the tears in the corner of her eyes, watching the stars in the sky sparkle. "Thank you Vanta, for everything you've done for us. I hope you find peace and rest," Holli mumbled. Large arms came from behind pulling her close. Chips smiled down at her before looking up at the sky.
"Thank you Vanta," Chips said clearer than before, holding Holli close well looking at the great void of space before them.
